We're a web development agency in Hull, founded in 2014. We build WordPress, WooCommerce and Shopify sites for businesses that need them to keep earning — and we stay responsible for them afterwards.
Bass Media Group started in May 2014, after years of freelance development work. The pattern was hard to miss: smaller businesses could get a website built, but they couldn't get anyone reliable to look after it. Agencies wanted retainers that only made sense above a certain size. Freelancers disappeared. Cheap maintenance plans were a mailbox and a monthly invoice.
So the company was built around the part everyone else treated as an afterthought — what happens after the site goes live. Hosting that doesn't fall over. Updates tested before they're applied. Someone who answers when something breaks at an inconvenient hour.
Twelve years on, that's still the shape of the business. We build sites, and then we're accountable for them.
Three things shape most of our decisions. They're also why some clients have been with us for years.
Month to month, no minimum term, no exit fees. Your domains, hosting and accounts stay in your name — if you leave, you take everything and we help you move it. We'd rather earn the next month than trap you into it.
A website is business infrastructure, not a deliverable. Updates are tested on staging before they touch your live site, backups are verified rather than assumed, and problems are ours to fix whether or not we caused them.
If a smaller fix will solve it, we'll say so rather than quote a rebuild. If we're not the right agency for the work, we'll tell you that too. You'll get a real assessment, not a proposal shaped around what we'd like to sell.
